A.  We are the ones who have the greatest impact on how our children perceive the concept of age.  In Eastern cultures, parents and grandparents are respected for their wisdom and knowledge.  It is believed that with age comes acute insight and increased intellect.  It’s only in the Western cultures that we chase down the Fountain of Youth believing that we will gain some additional insight to life by staying young.  The whole concept of age, for the young and old is stifling.  We know that age is merely a chronological number rather than our true identity.  “Old” is a state of mind.  Rather than the word “old,” why not bring up our children to see us as wise or experienced?  What we project is what we will receive in return.  If we don’t think of ourselves as “old,” then our children will not see us as “old” parents.
